Vegan Food On The Go When AdVANturingIntroduction
We are vegans because we don’t like to exploit and feed off the energy of other living creatures. This includes meat, fish, eggs, dairy and all thing that come from another living thing. Besides this have you seen the film Cowspiracy? If not you must as this explains a lot of why we are non meat and dairy eaters. ! And – animal products are just plain BAD for humans and eating them (and copious amounts of sugars and oils) makes humans sick. You can do your homework on this topic too if you like as there is so much evidence and information out there about how amazingly healthy vegan food is. . Anyway we like the taste of vegan food and wine better. Here we show you what we eat when we are on the road.We like to find our very own ‘restaurant’ table with a unique and stunning view if we can.
We have taken photos of some of the meals we cook. They are easy to prepare and made from everyday ingredients from UK supermarkets we all use such as Aldi and Asda for basics to Sainsbury and Waitrose for rarer food stuffs such as falafel burgers, rice milk, gogi berries, hemp seeds, chia seeds and the like. We haven’t included recipes as such as because these are just ideas and suggestion to show you that camping in a van and not eating animals and animal products is easy, healthy, convenient and delicious.
We use a two burner gas cooker, a 12 volt fridge and three non stick pans: – a frying pan, a mini wok and a saucepan with a lid. We have two sharp knives, a chopping board and plastic spatulas. All meals are prepared in about 15 minutes and cleaned up in less as we don’t have disgusting smelly, greasy animal flesh and fat to clean off our dishes and van surfaces.
We don’t do barbeques either as carbonised food is carcinogenic. In the summer we either cook inside and take it outside to eat or cook food in normal saucepans on the fire using a metal grill to stand the pans on.
