A Weekend in the Lakes
Grizedale, Coniston and Tan HowsOn this trip to the Lake District we decided to stay around one of our favourite areas, Grizedale, Coniston and Tarn Hows. Wee arrived quite late on Friday Evening so we tried checking in to a campsite by Consiton, but they tried charging us a daft amount of money for what looked like a carpark without a view of lake. The decision was made on the spot to look for a wild spot. This turned out to be the right choice. Friday camped by Lake Coniston with a fantastic view for breakfast. Saturday mountain biking around Grizedale forest. then wild camping up the Old Man of Coniston. Sunday spent relaxing and taking a walk around Tarn Hows.

Breakfast by the lake
Which cabin should I build
After a cycle around Grizedale forest
Our campfire up the Old Man of Coniston
Saw a load of Parascender’s catching thermals
Stoking the fire
Found a very comfy rock
Saw some amazing stars
And some tasty wine
The rain and sun treated us to a rainbow
The sound of running water was all around us.
I do like these signs!
Lake Coniston, just divine
Tarn Hows was a treat of light and colour
Water reflections to die for.
